UCCN program of UNESCO included Gaziantep into the list of “Creative Cities Network” within the field of gastronomy in 2015. Gaziantep in Turkey hosts ”Gaziantep International Gastronomy Festival” every year between 12 – 15 September. Festival includes a lot of precious chiefs from Turkey and other countries.
It should also be noted that the doors of the festival, which is held free of charge, are open to anyone who wants to join!
Gaziantep, located at the north-west end of the Mesopotamia region, where humanity first started agriculture and animal domestication, is located in a unique geography where the Mediterranean and continental climates have a transitional climate. It has witnessed dozens of different periods in human history and was established on one of the most important points of the historical Silk Road. The cuisine of the city, where cultures, ideas and science have been exchanged for thousands of years, have also been affected by all these features of the city.
