Chersiphron and his son Metagenes were natives of Crete. They were the architects of the second temple of Artemis in Ephesus. They began their work in 550 BC. The second Artemis Temple built by them became one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Masterpiece of Chersiphron and Metagenes was burned down by Herostratus in the year 356 BC.
