Here is the day-to-day program of the 8th Ephesus Opera and Ballet Festival

June 27-28 | SWAN LAKE
The dance of innocence and ambition. Tchaikovsky’s immortal work Swan Lake will be on stage with its magical melodies and elegant choreography. Swans gliding through the mists of the lake will tell an epic story of love and curse.

June 29 | ŞEKERONYA (In Turkish)
A colorful door to the limitless world of imagination! For children and those who haven’t lost their inner child, Şekeronya invites you on a joyful journey with its fun music and fantastic atmosphere. I had chance to see Şekeronya with my older daughter previously on a different stage. It is my personal recommendation.

July 2 | DIE ENTFÜHRUNG AUS DEM SERAIL
Mozart’s graceful notes and subtle humor combine with an entertaining and moving escape story set in the Ottoman palace. This opera, where love and courage are tested, tells the conflict of traditions and freedom in an impressive language. I watched this opera as a child, and I look forward to seeing it again.

July 5 | CARMINA BURANA
A masterpiece where the wheel of fate turns endlessly, passion and dramatic escalations spill onto the stage! Carl Orff’s impressive work Carmina Burana will make the sky tremble with its gigantic choir and orchestra. Like a ritual on human destiny…

8 July | AŞK-I MEMNU (In Turkish)
The tragedy of passion, betrayal and forbidden love, this time on stage! Halit Ziya Uşaklıgil’s unforgettable work takes on a new dimension, accompanied by mesmerizing music. Aşk-ı Memnu which means FORBIDDEN LOVE is a classic in Turkey, and it was developed for TV twice. The second show based on this book is an international hit.

11 July | LA TRAVIATA
Verdi’s emotion-filled music echoes in Ephesus with the sad story of Violetta. As a great love collides with social norms, sadness, and ecstasy will envelop hearts at the same time. The elegant and heartbreaking notes of a desperate love will echo in the stones of history.
