Otrera the Mother of Amazons

Otrera was the daughter of the god of the eastern winds Eurus. She was the mistress of god of war Ares. As we know Otrera created Amazons who were the warrior woman of the ancient times.

Otrera erected a temple for her lover Ares, but then she realized Amazon’s protector goddess Artemis (Diana) would like Otrera to build a temple in her name too. So she decided to build the Temple of Artemis in Ephesus. As we know Otrera is considered to be the founder of Artemis Temple.
