Demeas of Ephesus lived in Ephesus in the 5th century. We don’t know a great deal about his life, but he is the one who left a memorable monument in the center of Ephesus. Demeas was the one who ordered the destruction of the Artemis statue which stood in front of the Celsus Library and erected a monument which honors the Christian community and the Christian triumph in Ephesus.
