What Is Left of the Places in the Ephesus Video?
Most of them are still there, but the Temple of Artemis is almost gone. In its last form the temple was about 137 meters long with more than 120 columns. Today you see its foundations and one column, put together from pieces found on the site.
The other places are easier to find. Curetes Street is the marble street that runs uphill from the Library of Celsus toward the Upper Gate, and most walks through Ephesus come down it from that gate. On the way you pass the Gate of Hercules and the Fountain of Trajan.
Temple of Hadrian stands along the same street. It dates to the 2nd century AD and was repaired in the 4th. Tyche, the goddess of fortune, is carved on the keystone of its small arched front.
The Arcadian Road is the colonnaded avenue between the Great Theater and the old harbor, with shops behind the columns. Harbor silted up long ago, so the sea is far away now, but the marble paving and rows of columns are still there. Watch the video first, then you know what you are looking at when you stand there.
