Watchtower located between Metropolis and Ephesus Ancient Cities

This tour included a watchtower which was built in between Metropolis and Ephesus ancient cities. It took us about 30 minutes to climb and about 45 minutes to come down. A massive cistern carved inside the bedrock still can be visited at the top of the watchtower!

Later we moved to ”Uyuzdere” region nearby Ephesus. Two cult centers of the ancient Anatolian goddess ”Cybele” can be seen over there. These caves attracted believers of Cybele and bones of the sacrifices can still be seen inside the caves.

There are small village restaurants offering tasty dishes of Turkish cuisine on the route. I tried some Turkish Pide with minced meat, eggs and cheese which was delicious. Riding motorcycle on this route is fairly easy and a motorbike of a medium power will be completely enough.

The last stop was a thousand years old cistern which was built by Seljukian Empire of Turkish people and located on the ancient Silk Route. Cistern is in a massive scale and fascinated me with its integrity.
